Digital Publishing Agreement

We are currently accepting submission for digital publication i.e. Kindle, Nook, Ibooks and other e-reader devices.

Have you ever read a book and once you were finished you wanted to read something else by that author. I feel that way to make money in the digital market is to have product available. Where traditional publishers will release one book per year, Kissed Publications will release as much product as you can write, as soon as it completes the publish process. This gives you the author a greater opportunity to earn money and be compensated at a much faster rate.  Kissed Publications currently has relationships with amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com and smashword.com to sell digital content to their customer base.

The Publishing Process, Editorial, Design, Sales and Marketing Stages.
Although they are listed as three distinct stages, these usually occur concurrently. As editing of text progresses, front cover design and initial layout takes place and sales and marketing of the book begins.

During the Editorial stage the author generally improves the quality of the work through editing, rewriting and/or making smaller changes. The content editor works extensively with the author to decide and develop the broader themes of a manuscript, ensure clear development and expression of the whole manuscript.

Once you have completed the recommended changes and we agree that it is ready, the content editor then hands the manuscript to the copy editor. The copy editor goes through the manuscript line by line to check for proper word usage, consistent style and tone, correct grammar and punctuation, and correct cross-references. The copyeditor creates parallel structure within the text, changes the passive voice to active, and eliminates wordiness and jargon, and smooth out sentence and paragraph transitions to improve readability.

The proofreader checks the typeset copy and marks any errors using standard proofreader marks showing what is to be corrected. The proof is then returned to the typesetter for correction, and in many cases the production of a second proof copy.

In the Design stage typesetting is done. This involves the presentation of textual material in graphic form on paper to create the digital file.

In the Cover Design stage a determination will be made on how the product should be presented the type of book being produced determines the amount of design required. For standard fiction titles, design is usually restricted to typography and cover image. Once the cover has been designed, you will be given an opportunity to approve the cover or suggest changes to improve its presentation.

The Sales and Marketing stage is closely intertwined with the editorial process. As front cover images are produced or chapters are edited, marketing begins to build early interest.

Commission Structure
Commission paid to authors is 25% of the selling price of the book. This is much more lucrative than the traditional way that authors are paid. In standard publishing contracts, the author receives an advance against royalty:

For trade paperbacks sold in the United States other than by Direct to the Consumer Sales: Eight percent (8%) of the cover price on the first 50,000 copies sold; and then ten percent (10%) of the cover price on all copies sold in excess of 50,000

For each mass-market paperback sold in the United States by Direct to Consumer Sales: Four percent (4%) of the cover price.

Traditionally, authors receive royalties twice a year, in May and November and if you don’t earn out your advance, most publishers will want that money back or charge it against your next advance, or simply be uninterested in producing your future works.

This is not the business model Kissed Publications will follow.

Once your work is published, royalties can be expected 60 days after the end date of the on sale month, (example, your book releases on June 30th, you will receive royalties after August 31st).

Thereafter, royalty payments will be made electronically on a monthly basis once your earnings reach $10, via paypal (www.paypal.com); or once your earnings reach $100 if you would rather be paid by check/mail.

Kissed Publications will provide authors with weekly reports, broken down by distributor, detailing current sales, returns and earning, a feature that no traditional publisher provides to authors.
