About Us

We are currently accepting submission for digital publication i.e. Kindle, Nook, Ibooks and other e-reader devices.

Why go digital?

With the steady decline in brick and mortar bookstores (most recently the complete liquidation of Borders/Waldenbooks), and physical books going out of print every year, it is imperative that authors look at other avenues to deliver works to readers. As technology advances, more and more readers are converting to the ease and convenience of ereaders like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and Ipad.

E-books See Triple Triple Digit Growth as Paper Book Sales Dive

Secondly, have you ever read a book and once you were finished you wanted to read something else by that author. Unfortunately, you generally have to wait a year or more for that author's next release. E-publishing makes an author's work more readily available to readers. Where as traditional publishers typically release one book per author per year, Kissed Publications will release as many titles as our authors can produce, without quality being compromised. As soon as it completes the publishing process, we make it available for purchase. This gives authors a greater opportunity to earn money and be compensated at a much faster rate. Kissed Publications currently has relationships with Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, Smashword.com, BookieJar.com. and 21Blackstreet.com to sell digital content to their customer base.

Our Publishing Process
Once a work is submitted and accepted, the publishing process begins:

The work will be assigned a tentative publication date and an ISBN as it enters the editorial stage.  During this stage, the manuscript is edited for content to ensure  clear development and expression of the entire manuscript. Detailed notes are then submitted to the author for editing and rewriting. Once this has been completed, and it has been determined that the work is ready for publication,  the copy editor goes through the manuscript line by line to check for proper word usage, consistent style and tone, correct grammar and punctuation, and correct cross-references. The copy editor creates parallel structure within the text, changes the passive voice to active, and eliminates wordiness and jargon, and smooth out sentence and paragraph transitions to improve readability.

A proofreader ensures the work is error free, then submits the manuscript to the author for final proofing. Once the author returns the manuscript noting all final corrections, the manuscript moves to the design stage. where, it is properly formatted for digital publishing.

A Cover will be designed and submitted to the author, after taking into consideration the author's thoughts on the cover.  For standard fiction titles, design is usually restricted to typography and cover image. Once the cover has been designed, authors will be given an opportunity to suggest changes to improve its presentation.

Once the cover has been finalized, the image will be uploaded to retailers along with the anticipated publication date and a synopsis. This will allow the author to gain early interest and pre-sales.

Commission Structure
In standard publishing contracts, the author receives an advance against royalty:

  • For trade paperbacks sold in the United States other than by Direct to the Consumer Sales: Eight percent (8%) of the cover price on the first 50,000 copies sold; and then ten percent (10%) of the cover price on all copies sold in excess of 50,000

  • For each mass-market paperback sold in the United States by Direct to Consumer Sales: Four percent (4%) of the cover price.

  • Traditionally, authors receive royalties twice a year, in May and November and if you don’t earn out your advance, most publishers will want that money back or charge it against your next advance, or simply be uninterested in producing your future works.
This is not our business model. While we offer no advance, we also do not require any out-of-pocket costs. We incur all associated costs of producing your ebook to include cover design, editing, and formatting for digital publication. Commission paid to authors is 80% of the earnings of your work minus digital publishing fees. This is much more lucrative than the traditional way that authors are paid.

Once your work is published, initial royalties can be expected 60 days after the end date of the on-sale month, (example, your book releases on June 13th, you will receive royalties after August 31st). Thereafter, royalty payments will be made electronically on a monthly basis once your earnings reach $10, via paypal (www.paypal.com); or once your earnings reach $100 if you would rather be paid by check/mail.

We provide authors with electronic monthly royalty statements reports, detailing current sales, returns and earnings, a feature that no traditional publisher provides to authors.

For authors who would like to explore physical publishing, rather than digital, we will be glad to meet that need as well, however as the industry rapidly shifts to digital, we are compelled to maintain pace in that regard. We produce physical books for our clients on a Print on Demand basis.
